Victory in Kalamazoo!

Victory in Kalamazoo!

By Sarah Kennedy, Interactive Media Coordinator, November 3, 10:26 pm

Today voters in Kalamazoo, Mich., passed an LGBT-inclusive nondiscrimination ordinance.

According to unofficial results, voters in Kalamazoo have passed Ordinance 1856, which bans discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation in housing, employment and public accommodations. The Task Force has been working side-by-side with the local campaign, One Kalamazoo, to ensure this win.

Rea Carey, executive director of the Task Force, had this to say:

"This marks an important victory for Kalamazoo, where voters have affirmed that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people are part of the fundamental social fabric of the city, which now joins nearly 20 other cities in Michigan that have enacted nondiscrimination ordinances."
