Movement Building
Stronger organizations and communities = a stronger LGBT movement
Our Movement Building department is the home of four of the movements most dynamic year-round projects:
The National Conference on LGBT Equality: Creating Change assembles a five-day program of trainings, strategic discussions, leadership development, and networking that builds the confidence and skills of our movement leaders.
The Institute for Welcoming Resources and its Shower of Stoles project supports the unconditional welcome of people of all sexual orientations, gender identities and their families in the church home of their choice.
The National Religious Leadership Roundtable is an interfaith network of leaders from Pro-LGBT faith, spiritual and religious organizations who work together to support equality for LGBT people with their own spiritual traditions and in public policy.
What we do and why we do it
Through these signature projects, the Movement Building Department builds the capacities and capabilities of organizations and community leaders at the grassroots of our social justice movement. Our overarching goal is to increase our enduring political power through gatherings that bring communities and movements together to strategize and network, along with a variety of trainings and leadership development that increases the diversity of our movement and builds our communities.
