Organizing & Training
Our Organizing & Training team partners with leaders, organizations, and campaigns to build the political power of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community in measurable ways at the state and local level.
As the LGBT community’s most experienced corps of trainers and organizers, we provide practical, in-the-trenches support to win elections, defeat anti-LGBT ballot measures and stop anti-LGBT legislation.

What We Do
We work with emerging and established organizations across the country to:
- Defeat anti-LGBT measures at the ballot box.

- Strengthen the capacity of organizations to build larger teams of volunteers and donors.

Build, Win, Build.
We win concrete victories for LGBT people and our allies through building large-scale ballot measure and legislative campaigns. Whether or not victory is achieved in the short term, our campaign work helps local communities build a lasting foundation to achieve future political successes.

How We Do It
We use a range of tools to build grassroots political power:
- Trainings for current and future LGBT and allied leaders
- Naming Our Destiny trainings for LGBT people of color and allies
- Organizing support for campaigns, organizations and coalitions
- Technical assistance for electoral campaigns

Our Partners
With many communities under attack simultaneously, our staff often travel the country to work side-by-side with local activists, especially where our involvement will make the critical difference between winning and losing. Unfortunately, this means the Organizing & Training department can’t invest equal time and energy in every place needing our help. We partner with a range of groups to provide practical in-the-trenches training and support:
- Pro-LGBT campaigns
- Progressive campaigns, including pro-choice and affirmative action allies
- Statewide and local LGBT political organizations
- LGBT community centers and allied organizations
